quote du jour ~gilbert

You need to learn how to select your thoughts just the same way you select your clothes every day. This is a power you can cultivate. If you want to control things in your life so bad, work on the mind. That’s the only thing you should be trying to control.

  1. Control of our lives is an illusion, a construct within our own stories… We may steer our thoughts, our little boats, in the current, and thus find calmer waters. We may marry our boats together, when well-met, and in doing so find a steadier ride together, but the river flows according to its own physics through the terrain of this reality. What we can do with our thoughts is choose how we perceive the quality of the float, and seek out the beauty that passes, rather than the ugliness—That much we can control.

  2. Yes, the only thing we have the power to change is ourselves. Too many people trade their own consciousness, and their time, for attachments—to material things, to power, to people they believe will increase their own moldy collections of things and power and delusion. We all knew how to play, how to imagine, when we were young. Only a few seem to be able to hold on to that essential truth as adults. Sorry, I’m not usually so misty (or is that musty)… blame it on the heat and the heavy air, and thoughts coalescing with mine from several friends at once.
